Word Up Life Changers Deaconess
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon,
being found blameless. 1 Timothy 3:10
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree,
and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 3:13
The Deacon in New Testament is one who serves or is a servant or attendant rendering free service. The service is in a general area of whatever maybe requested. Deacons include the service of both men and woman appointed by he senior pastor to serve in the administration of church ordinances and in worship services. No divine calling to be a Deacon. It is strictly a human appointment. "wucc leadership manual"
Word Up Deaconess
The women are premier workers in the Word Up Family. Their primary duties are assigned by Bishop Rayfield Whittington. They are the hands of the church – to get things done at the spur of the moment.
They assist with communion, send cards and flowers to bereaved families and cook when asked, serve at church functions and fellowship together as sisters.
Deaconess are informed about their requested assistance via a telephone calling tree. The calling tree improves communication and promotes participation within the Deaconess board.
Each Deaconess has a partner on the board. The partners pray for each other and ensure they both are connected and involved with church activities.
Duties are rotated among the deaconess each month. At the beginning of each year the deaconess choose the month when they want to help with communion and baptism. They also pick the month when they want to be the Lead Deaconess.
